At this beautiful moment of autumn, we sincerely invite you to attend the special musical feast organized by the Canada YC Chinese Music Orchestra Association – "Canada Multicultural Arts Festival Shanxi Special: Essence of Jin," which will be held on October 21, 2023, at the Gateway Theatre!
This is an unprecedented musical journey that will immerse you in the beauty of both traditional and modern music from Shanxi province. To help you better understand the exciting program that awaits, allow us to introduce some highlights of this concert:
Program Highlights:
Orchestra - "Blooming Red Flowers Everywhere": This piece will take you back to the glorious moments in Chinese history, allowing you to feel the charm of the Culture of Dazhai.
Orchestra - "Dancing to the Rooster's Crow": A lively and joyful composition that will take you on an energetic musical journey.
Orchestra - "Ninety-Nine Bays of the Yellow River": Through this piece, you'll hear the majestic imagery of the Yellow River and experience the beauty of Shanxi's landscapes.
Percussion Instruments (Program TBD): Presented by percussion expert Mr. Cao and his 8-year-old daughter, this promises to be a unique and captivating Chinese ethnic percussion performance.
Gu Zheng Solo - "Fantasy": Presented by Ling Sitong (Little Golden Bell award winner), this solo piece will transport you into a dreamy world.
Gu Zheng + Pipa - "Flowers and Moonlit Night by the Spring River": The duet of pipa expert Ms. Liu Guilian and gu zheng expert Ms. Chen Wenying will paint a romantic musical landscape.
Orchestra - "Dreams": A piece brimming with romantic emotions that will warm your heart.
Orchestra - "Determination": Join us as we step into the Qiao Family Courtyard and experience the rich cultural heritage of ancient Chinese families.
Orchestra + National Charm Choir - "Distant Love": The National Charm Choir will collaborate with the orchestra to present an emotionally stirring musical work.
